Map Explorer¶
A tab of its own for exploring the map: jump to a continent or a random place, select the largest features or a random sample, and summarize a layer's numeric fields.

Permissions¶
- Reads the map: its layers, their features and the view. Every plugin can.
- Edits the project: Can change the project: run commands that edit it and add layers.
Plugins run in a sandbox with no other access to your computer or the network.

Field Summary¶
plugin:map-explorer/field-summary
A table of count, minimum, maximum, mean and sum for each numeric field of a layer.

Install¶
- In RustGIS (desktop or web): open Plugins › Plugin Manager › Browse, find Map Explorer and choose Install. RustGIS checks the download against the SHA-256 above.
- On the command line:
rustgis-cli plugins get map-explorer. - From the file: download the package, then choose Plugins › Install From File in RustGIS or run
rustgis-cli plugins install <file>.
Run a tool on the World Atlas sample:
rustgis-cli run --sample --cmd 'gp.run={"tool": "plugin:map-explorer/field-summary", "params": {"input": "Countries"}}' --cmd 'share.exportMap={"path":"map.png"}'
